Try The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Sutterfield. A bit of a ghost story. “Clever foray into a world of secrets, confused identities, lies and half-truths.” (quote from Amazon.com) There are two heroines here: a famous author whose life story is coming to an end (one she has never dared share with anyone) and a young unworldly, bookish girl who is a book seller in her father’s shop and chosen to write the author’s biography. One’s story is of a surviving conjoined twin and the other’s is a story of two wild girls (is she one of them?) who grow up with neglect and unsavory parents. As the story unfolds the reader is drawn into the mystery deeper and deeper to a satisfying end. Highly recommended by the library director.
